Letting Go

“The idea of ink as a material used for thousands of years—a timeless substance made of pigment and carrier—mirrors who we are: we are the pigments and carriers of our own lives.”

Transitioning from large-scale canvases to the intimate, meditative process of working with ink on paper, the artist is discovering a new voice in the studio. Through fluid gestures—stains, scrapings, and movements—she finds balance and expression.

The ink itself is handmade by the artist, using walnuts gathered from her own garden—an act that brings both the natural world and her personal environment into the creative process. As a fluid medium, ink resists full control, serving as a metaphor for life itself. Its unpredictability reflects our own lived experiences, especially in moments when we believe we are in control, only to be reminded that the universe may have other plans. It is in those moments that we are called to accept and learn from both our vulnerability and our strength.

This series of small yet deeply resonant works on paper—what the artist calls “tender pieces”—stands as a meditation on action and fluidity, control and release. Like pages from a private journal, these works reveal a silent dialogue between artist, material, and support, making space for the profound process of inhabiting the present moment and, ultimately, of letting go.
